Laser Teeth Whitening
At Vanity Medical Spa, we enjoy a pristine reputation for providing one of the best cosmetic teeth whitening treatments in Bergen County. The system we use is a pain free, non-dental, self-administered kit with a satisfaction guarantee.
Our treatment session duration is only 1 hour with a possible shade difference of up to 7 shades whiter. For optimal results, depending on the staining habits (coffee, tea, soda, wine, dark liquors, smoking) clients have a second session or take home kit which can be purchased separately for optimal results.

Am I a good candidate for teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening provides drastic results for anyone who wants to have a whiter smile. This includes people with teeth that have been stained from daily habits such as smoking or drinking dark colored beverages such as coffee, tea, soda, wine, etc. Everyone is a good candidate as long as they good oral hygiene, health and are over 18 years of age.
Can I whiten if I have braces?
Unfortunately, no you can’t – whitening may interfere with the glue holding your braces and will cause uneven whitening. Best to wait until you have your braces off.
I’m pregnant/breastfeeding, can I whiten my teeth?
We don’t recommend whitening while you’re pregnant or breast feeding, but feel free to ask your GP or specialist for advice.
I have holes on my teeth, can I still whiten?
We don’t recommend whitening while having cavities, open wounds, or bleeding in the gums which is a result of poor dental health. If your teeth aren’t in a healthy state, we recommend seeing a dentist first.
What is the recommended age for the kits or in-spa sessions?
We don’t recommend whitening for anyone under 18 – their pulp (nerve) is still exposed and will be sensitive.
Do I need to see a dentist before whitening?
We do recommend you see your dentist for a return cleaning and exam before considering a whitening treatment.
Is there anyone who can’t whiten?
We do not recommend whitening for the following: Children under the age of 18 as the pulp (nerve of the tooth) is enlarged until this age and whitening will cause irritation and sensitivity. Pregnant and breastfeeding, however you can seek advice from your obstetrician/pediatrician. People with health-related issues – e.g., Colitis or Crohn’s as these health issues can cause damage to your enamel. We recommend you seek advice from your GP or dentists before buying if you have:
- Periodontal disease
- Overly sensitive teeth
- Have had recent oral surgery
- Decayed teeth
- Exposed roots
- Exposed dentine
- Jaw problems
How often should I whiten using my at home kit?
We recommend whitening 1-7 days consecutively for about 20-30 minutes and then as needed. If you choose to whiten more often, we recommend you ask your dental provider.
Is it permanent?
No, teeth whitening isn’t permanent – stains will build up again over time.
Will whitening destroy my enamel?
If you follow our guidelines for the best and safest results, there will be no damage to your enamel. If you’re concerned, we recommend you ask your dentist.
If I have a grayish tint to my teeth, will they still whiten?
We see awesome results on yellower stains. Clients with a grayish tint seem to have less drastic results but you will still see an improvement.
Bleaching of gums, how and why?
Sometimes during client application gel can be painted onto the gums accidentally. If this occurs, we recommend removing the excess gel before continuing the treatment as that area may become irritated and sensitive. The peroxide should only be placed on the tooth not skin, lips, or gums. Vitamin E oil can be used as a gum protectant for consumers prone to sensitivity.
Gums will return to normal within a few hours and the whiteness will disappear. Avoid hot, spicy foods until your gums are fully healed and wait at least one week before whitening again. Treat your teeth for only half the recommended time during your next treatment and slowly increase the whitening time with subsequent treatments.
How do I use a at home whitening kit?
It is simple. Add the gel to your mouthpiece or paint your teeth tooth by tooth avoiding your gum line as much as possible and insert in your mouth along with the LED light. For a more precise application use a Q-tip to paint each tooth. Vitamin E oil can be used as a gum protectant for consumers prone to sensitivity. 30 minutes later, you’ll have a pearly white smile!
How does whitening work?
Once gel is applied to your teeth the active ingredient in the gel starts to break down. Oxygen enters the enamel and dentine, which in turn breaks down the stains inside the tooth. The structure of the tooth is not changed -it is only the enamel of the tooth that appears whiter. For best and safest results, we recommend you closely follow the instructions provided with your kit.
What are the ingredients included in my whitening kit?
The active ingredient is high quality carbamide peroxide – the same used by dentists for take-home teeth whitening treatments. However, our concentrations that we use are considered cosmetic and much lower than dental grade solutions.
How does the LED light work?
The LED light helps to activate the whitening gel and speeds up the process of whitening.
What’s the difference between you’re at home whitening kits and you’re in spa sessions?
Our at home whitening kits are great for consumers who can’t readily make it to us but are still committed to having a pearly white smile. If used consistently and correctly, the same results can be achieved as in spa sessions. In spa sessions allow the consumer to receive a drastic whitening result in less than an hour with our commercial Grade high-power LED lamps.
Will the gel expire?
Opened you can keep it for about 1 year. Unopened you can store it 2 years. This would be only for carbamide solution.
Do I need to store the gel in a fridge?
No, store in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight, but you don’t need to keep it in the fridge.
